Arco
The oldest part of the town Arco lies at the foot of a cliff, at the top of which sit the remains of Arco Castle. The towns of Bolognano, Caneve, Ceole, Chiarano, Grotta, Massone, Moletta, Oltresarca, Padaro, Pratosiano, Romarzallo, S.Giorgio, S.Martino, Varignano, Vigna and Vignole extend towards Dro, Torbole sul Garda and Riva del Garda and through the vast plains crossed by the Sarca River. Agriculture (wine, olive oil, plums, etc.) and industry thrive in this area, and the tourism industry has also rapidly developed. Arco was a well-known vacation spot already in the second half of the 19th century, when it became the holiday residence at lake garda of the Hapsburg dynasty and Vienna's high society: Today Arco is home to modern hotels and spas. Due to its marvelously mild climate, even in winter, Arco has been rightfully dubbed "The Nice of Trentino". Mountain climbing, free climbing, parasailing and hang gliding, mountain biking, archery, sailing, surfing, swimming, fishing, soccer, jogging, squash, tennis and horse riding are just some of the sports available.
